As I scrolled through my Instagram last night I came across the picture above which shows a beautiful sunset over the horizon as I landed in Tampa, Florida a few months ago. Which led me to this thought.
A week ago I decided to start this daily blog. A down to earth, factual online record of my life.
From my worst experiences to my best, I have creatively challenged myself with the intention to showcase the real me as I might just be able to inspire others like you and even myself.
I must confess though, a week in, and it has been damn challenge indeed. Thinking of something to write about everyday that will offer some insight into my mind while imparting a certain level of coherent knowledge into yours can be difficult.
But I have made up my mind to do this! I have created a new horizon for myself.
One that will challenge me everyday to write my best or my worst. One that will force me to be creative, to think outside my norms, to get out of my comfort zones and become a better writer. One that will help me and hopefully in turn help you to be a better person.
Creating a new horizon is setting a goal for yourself that is attainable and realistic, but at the same time offers an arduous challenge to overcome. I do not know where I will get inspiration from to write 365 days for the year, but it is something I have always wanted to do, and I am going to make it happen. As I have procrastinated for far too long.
Many times we forfeit on our dreams because we are lazy, demotivated or we are afraid of something. Maybe success, failure, criticism or we lack patience to see it through.
But, I am challenging you today to create a new horizon for yourself. The new year is approaching, and we love to talk about fancy new year resolutions which we never fulfill. I am challenging you today (whenever you are reading this) to create a workable goal with a structured timeline in which you would want to see that goal achieved, and start working your ass off to make it happen. It can be something simple enough as reading five books in a month or as laborious as paying off all your debt within the next two years.
We all know the cliché saying that states, “If it’s to be, it’s up to me” and it is a powerful phrase, because the realization of your dreams and goals can only be made reality by you alone.
So get up and start making it happen, because no one else will on your behalf.
What horizons are you creating for yourself today?
