Karma according to Hindu and Buddhism culture means: the sum of a person’s actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences.
We all think of karma as something that comes full circle, which is basically a word that sums up the saying “do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”
A lot of the inequality in mankind can be arguably linked to karma. Why is my life better than yours? Why do your dreams come through and mine do not? Could it be linked to karma from a past life, this present life or the life of your mother or father?
The whole concept of karma and how it affects one’s destiny and lifetime here on this earth is questionable, but we know for sure that what goes around comes around in some form.
If you lie and cheat; karma will come right back at you and let you pay the price for your misdeed.
A little story…
Living in New York City for 5 years, I came across a lot of beggars. Many of them homeless, disabled, veterans, parents, children, and drug addicts. People going through difficulties and being served the unpleasant side of life. However, despite the genuineness and real need many of these beggars portrayed, some of them were rather fake and disingenuous. Every now and then a news report would appear of a “beggar” being caught driving a posh car or removing their beggar garb and appearance for a more normal one. [A.k.a. they were con-artists.]
Of course, this made many people skeptical of helping beggars. Like, why am I going to give you my last $10 to get a meal when your life might be far better than mine? Why should I give you a free dollar when I am working like crazy for my hard earned money?
I was one of those people, because I saw it as unfair and bloody cruel to not only cheat people out of their hard earned money; but to also give the people who are genuinely in need a bad wrap.
How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.
However, after some thought I came to the conclusion…
I will not stop giving! If I give you my money out of the goodness of my heart because you lied and cheated to win my sympathy, karma is on you! Your misdeed will be on your conscience, and it will make a full 360 right back to you one way or another. My conscience will be clear, because I willingly gave you that dollar.
This does not only apply only to “beggars,” but also to scammers, extortionists, Ponzi schemers, cheaters in relationships, cat-fishers, corrupt politicians, corrupt cops, sex offenders, and the list goes on. Karma is going to get you!
It might not be today, tomorrow or a year from now, and it might not take the form of the misdeed you committed; but karma will get you. Hence, this is why we should live lives that are honest and true with dignity, because the universe never forgets.
