A heart that is happy, joyful, thankful, free of negativity, full of positivity, kindness and peace.
In a world that is ridden with war, strife, politics, racism, classism and so many things dividing than uniting, it is very easy to get caught up in the negative notions, opinions and segregation of it all.
As humans we are automatically drawn to the negative, most times involuntary. It always seems like it is much easier to hate than to love, to envy than to support, to frown than to smile, to be mean than to be kind. Negative influences have so much control over our everyday actions that we sometimes participate sub-consciously.
It is normal to see a homeless person on the street and pass with disgust (that homeless person could be you one day btw), it is so normal to hate your friend because they got a promotion and you did not, even though they put in all the work. We let negativity control our emotions, actions, reactions and thoughts so easily.
So, how do we create a clean heart, one that is free of all these vices?
Just like cleaning your bathroom or your very dirty car, cleaning something is never a job most people look forward to. It is grimy, unpleasant work that many despise. However, the cleaning first starts with acknowledging that there is dirt to begin with. Once that is done, the cleaning can start.
When cleaning the aforementioned assets, you need soap, you need a cloth, you need water, and maybe a little bleach, depending on how dirty that asset is. Hence, cleaning your heart of all those vices requires some cleaning agents as well. In this case, these agents are prayer, meditation, positive thinking, love, and constant motivation.
To clean your heart, these agents must be used daily to rid of any dirt, dust or stains that have gathered. However, the utilization of these agents require constant practice. They cannot be used by just reading the instruction labels but must also be studied, understood and applied with utmost passion and zeal.
Cleaning your heart will not be a solo effort either, it will require help from higher powers such as your spiritual guides and the universe. You will need guidance and motivation from people who practice continuous cleaning of the heart, and you will need to have the willpower to achieve this goal.
Creating a clean heart is a full time job, but if you care about the impact negativity has on your mind, body and overall actions; then cleaning your heart everyday should be a no-brainer.
